Living in the light of Eternity

Living in the light of Eternity

Psalm 90:9-12

Eternity is the very essence and existence of God. Since God created
man in His own image, every human being is destined to live forever –
either in Heaven or Hell. Our time here on earth is but a drop in the
sea of eternity!

Eternity is a fact, and those who sadly regard it as a fiction and fail to
prepare for it, would have the whole of eternity to regret their folly.

Do you want a peaceful rather than a pitiful eternity? Be sure to lay a
firm foundation NOW and live your life here in the light of eternity.

“I judge all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity”
–Wesley.

P1. The Facts and Fiction Pertaining to Eternity

Isaiah 22:13;1 Corinth. 15:19,30-33; Hebrews 9:27; 1 Samuel 20:1-3; Psalm 90:1-12; Ecclesiastes 12:5,7; 2 Corinth. 5:1-10

Eternity is a reality:

  • Eternity means time without end. It is immortality; the afterlife
  • Two things will usher us into eternity – death or the Rapture
  • Evolution, atheism, euthanasia, abortion and other ungodly doctrines are attempts to deny the existence of the Creator, judgment and eternity
  • Death is not the end of life; it is the beginning of immortality
  • You have a never-dying soul whether you believe it or not

“God hath given to man a short time here upon earth, and yet
upon this short time eternity depends”– Taylor.

P2. The Folly of Failing to Prepare for Eternity

Psalm 49:6-20; Ecclesiastes 9:11,12; Luke 12:15-21;16:19-31; James 4:13-17; Deuteronomy 32:29

The greatest tragedy is to enter eternity unprepared:

  • A lot of preparations go into temporary life endeavours; the only thing many refuse to prepare for is eternity
  • Death and eternity, ultimately, separates the wise from the fool
  • Any so-called believer who makes their plans, choices, decisions and set priorities outside the word, will and way of the Lord is playing the fool
  • If you fail to prepare to for eternity, you will have the whole of eternity to regret that irredeemable folly!

“You were placed here to train for eternity. Your body was only intended to be a house for your immortal spirit. It is flying in the face of God’s purposes to do as many do – to make the soul a servant to the body, and not the body a servant to the soul”- Ryle.

P3. The Firm Foundation for a Peaceful Eternity

1 Timothy 6:17-19; Isaiah 55:1-3,6,7; Ecclesiastes 12:1-5,7; Psalm 39:4; John 11:25,26; 2 Timothy 4:1-8

A peaceful eternity demands adequate preparation:

  • Remember your Creator NOW!
  • Be sure about your salvation without any shred of doubt
  • Spend and be spent for God – serve the Lord gladly with your God-given resources
  • Examine every choice, decision and plan in this life in the light of eternity

“Eternity to the godly is a day that has no sunset; eternity
to the wicked is a night that has no sunrise.” -Watson.
