FAITHFULNESS TO GOD IN ALL THINGS
1 Corinthians 1:9; 4:2
God is so faithful to His word and promises, and in all His dealings with us He proves Himself faithful. It is this attribute of God that makes Him the covenant-keeping God.
As children of God we ought to resemble our Father by being faithful to Him in all things. It is in fact, a mandatory requirement in our walk with Him: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2).
The Fathers of the Christian faith, both in Bible and contemporary times, were faithful to their calling and their walk with God. We cannot do otherwise!
“…Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21).
P 1. The Fundamentals of Faithfulness to God
Psalm 24:1,2; Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 16:9-12
Faithfulness entails being loyal, true and trustworthy:
➢The believer is God’s estate manager, trustee or steward
➢The believer owes all that s/he has, is, and shall be to God
➢Unfaithfulness in earthly things disqualifies you from the true and heavenly possessions
➢You can’t take any of God’s possessions with you when you die, because you only hold them in trust
➢Faithfulness to God does not give us immunity from persecutions and afflictions (Daniel, Shadrack, Meshach
and Abednego)
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also
in much”(Luke 16:10).
P.2 The Facets of Faithfulness to God
1 Kings 20:1-4; Deut. 8:10-19; Romans 14:7-9; 1 Timothy 6:17-19
God requires total and complete faithfulness:
F – Faith (earnestly contend for the Christian faith)
A – Abilities (skills and talents)
I – Incomes
T – Time
H – Household (Genesis 18:17-19)
F – Fellowship with God and other believers
U – Underprivileged (James 1:27)
L – Lamentations
N – Neighbours
E – Employer(s)/employee(s)
S – Soulwinning
S – Spouse (Malachi 2:14-16)
P.3 The Faithfulness of Our Fathers to God
Numbers 12:1-7; Hebrews 3:1,2,5; Acts 13:21-23; 20:17-33
God wants us to emulate the faith and faithfulness of the Fathers of the faith:
➢God has always proved Himself faithful to the faithful
➢God rewards His faithful servants here in time and in eternity
➢It is the faith and faithfulness of our fathers in the faith, that made them accept torture and martyrdom
instead of denying God
“…Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” (Revelation 2:11b)
