2 Kings 20:1-7
A holy life is a life of power! While some people think holy living is not possible, the scriptures make it clear that it is possible. (Titus 2:11).
The Lord clearly commands us and calls to a life of holiness, and He has graciously promised and provided the wherewithal. If we are committed to living a transparently holy life, the power and privilege accruable is limitless!
“For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves…”– God Almighty, Lev. 11:44
P1. The Universal Principles of Holy Living
Colossians 1:21,22,28; Luke 1:74,75; 1 Thes. 4:1-8; Colossians 1:22-27; Genesis 17:1; Matthew 5:48; 2 Corinthians 13:11, Hebrews 6:1
It is important to situate holy living in its necessary contexts: its premise, possibility, promise, provision etc
- It is not absolute; infallible (Acts 23:5); knowledge perfection (we can misunderstand, misapply, and misinterpret situation).
- It is uprightness of character (Job 1:1,8; Deut 18:13); salvation from sin to live a holy life (Luke 1:74,75; Matthew 5:48); work of grace when the heart is purged from inbred sin or adamic nature (Rom 6:6,7);
- It should be noted that to be made holy, perfect or sanctified is the work of God. He’s promised us (Deut. 30:6) and provided the means.
“…let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” – Paul, the Apostle (2cor. 7:1).
